Started some work today.
prevous owner started a rhd conversion and then gave up.
so i am having to sort out where he got too and then finish it off.
welding the kick plate to the bulkhead at the moment.
not great welding, but it is 10 years since i waved a welding torch about.
i will improve.

That metal around the bulkhead looks very strange. I’ve done the RHD conversion and it was very straightforward around the steering and bulkhead. The pressings were already there and just needed opening up. I guess that’s why your car is affordable as you’ve mentioned.

I took the extra steps of transposing the fuse box and the support pillars inside the bonnet.

Yeah mine is a bit of a mongrel to be honest.

Still it was very cheap and i like working out how to do things.

Should look ok once it is all stitched back together and painted.

This was never going to be a concours project, just a solid usable run about with a bit of my style thrown in.

I think our vehicles are in competition for that title but I bow to your superior claim.

Well today i finished off the front bulkhead that the former owner had started but abandoned unfinished.

Not up to your standards but once i have stuck the sound proofing and carpet over it, no one will know, but me. Laughing

Ok i admit my work is not up to the standards of the people on here, but i am happy how things are going and i can only get better as time goes on.

Today i took the old LHD trims off of the dash top and made them fit my new glove box and instrument panel.

Ok i have a lot of cleaning up and touching up to do still, but i am pleased with the overall look of my dash now.

I will finish tidying it all up later when the rest of the car is ready for filler and paint.

Time to crack on with the Fuel tank area, lots of work to do there.

Looks pretty righteous.
Nice work.
Are you planning on making a dash cover or are you just going to leave it as painted metal?

Reminds me of the old vintage VW drinming song - 99 Rust Holes Still Left To Patch.

99 rust holes still left to patch,
99 rust holes still left.

Grind one down,
Weld it around,
98 rust holes still left to patch.

98 rust holes still left to patch,
98 rust holes still left.

Grind one down,
Weld it around,
97 rust holes still left to patch.

Yes I was worried about how it was going to turn out.
But i had nothing to start with anyway.
So I am very happy with how it finished up.
Ok it still needs finishing, but that can wait now until i am ready for block sanding.

Back to the door today. Smile
