HUGE RESPECT. Does it fit? |
Well, it's not my 20 millionth photo, even if it sometimes seems that way.

Actually it's pictured directly above the 20 millionth, so it's locked in posterity. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Looks like a 50 Merc and a 53 Ford to the right, so the Bug is pretty new. |

This shows that a lot of Germany was still rubble when these cars were built.

It seems that front headlights weren't easily available, and that a spotlight became a headlight. Is the rear bumper a double bar type, much beloved of subsequent customisers? Plus, what aircraft are those in the background? Seems to be plenty of them! Is this fellow a civilian, or is that a uniform of sorts? |

Looks like a lot of B17 flying fortresses to me and maybe he's ground crew? I thought the rear bumper was standard judging by the ground shadow and maybe that is the mounting bracket casting shadows. Parts would be hard to come by, remember the factory resorted to fitting kubel style lamps into the headlamp rim as a result of the shortages... _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

They are B-17's and it looks like they are parked or staged after the war. The USA flew most of the B-17's back to the USA where 99% of them were scrapped by 1947/1948 along with the vast majority of WWII aircraft with the exception of the B-29's, P51's and others that were sold to other nations.
Any idea where the picture was taken? _________________ Contact me at [email protected]
