You lost points on this one Wink ... That's a bay window. Odd that it has beetle slotted beauty rings.

Crap, I see that now up front.

The Deluxe trim and the late-style upper vents tricked me Smile

I was thinking '61 because no overriders (Euro?) and no semaphores but you make a valid point too.

It does have Sigla glass, do Euros have Sigla?

Some USA spec '59s had blade bumpers, although most got overriders. It was still a separate m-code at that point, but it got put into the standard USA package m-code in '60 or '61. I have seen a USA spec '60 deluxe with Euro blade bumpers. You never see '61 - '67 USA spec buses with Euro blades from the factory.

I have two other photos from that photo shoot with the doors open showing the double flipper in action.

a 59 euro bus would still have had semaphores and no blinkers, at least in germany

A Euro bus would also have Sekurit glass.
So this is just a 1959 USA/north American spec bus without M175 ram protection (overrider) bumpers.
These are all press photos from the factory, which can be seen in the background of some of the shots. I have seen 4 different pics from this photo shoot.

Thanks for the additional information.
The photo above is supposedly dated 1958 but I don't know if that is accurate or not.
So it very well could be a 1959 USA-style Kombi made in 1958

M-code 066 is Rubber mat in Cargo area

I can't recall ever seeing that on an actual M-code plate

This group of vintage photos I arranged and shot with my phone a few years ago.

My buddy had asked me if I wanted to tag along while he went a state over to pick up a bay window bus he bought. I jumped at the chance for a road trip. The seller was really cool and we were at his place prob 5 hours. We really hit it off and after the bus was loaded he let us peruse his compound and just go picking. These pictures popped out of a box. He said they were buses he had years ago......

I figured folks here would like to see them. I never get sick of looking at them.
