Am I looking at a real person? Or is this "the handler" from the next Quinton Terrintino move? Shocked Laughing

This photo fascinates me.
There is so much to deconstruct.

WTF is the dude pointing at?
Check out the fresnel lens stuck to the rear window.
Of course, the hippy chick.
What is she looking at?
She's looking at the guy's right hand.
OMG! Why is he holding the bus ashtray?!?!

There are many other things of note...

She is all like "that is a shiny deluxe ash tray you got there"
He is all like "it goes in there, hop in and I'll show you how it goes in"

Wonder what he’s pointing to in the corner of the glass?

That bus, with all the tail lights it has, probably never, ever got rear ended.

I had to laugh when I saw that Fresnel lens .
I had one on my '56 deluxe on the corner window between the jail bars and glass.
I looked over at my bus one day and saw it was full of blue smoke. The lens had focused the suns rays on to my Navy Pea Coat- and was smoldering-- real wool and what a nasty smell -

What do you think it is?

It's the burnt part of his curtains where the fresnel lens focused the suns rays and set them on fire. Very Happy

Hot!

and maybe its just an old photo but those look like black plates but that number sequence (111 aaa) would be a blue and yellow plate in California.

I'm wondering what year it is since it looks like a Turquoise Bus but has a center brakelight decklid and it looks like a later engine but the rear apron is clearly smashed for the side-exit exhaust

So it must be 57 or earlier?

To continue the deconstruction:

Yes, '55 to '57 Deluxe.
Maybe painted white/Turkis, or is it all white?
Original paint or repainted?
Engine replaced? Wrong exhaust ?

So many questions.

Schleicher K7 Rhönadler? Schleicher made the ASK 16 motor glider with a four cylinder direct drive engine design based upon the VW air-cooled engine. It used a single magneto ignition, a wet sump, and produced 67 hp at 3600 rpm.
