Hey Guys, so I just did a full detail on my 67 DC that's all original Ca truck never hit, never paintwork, etc. The truck now has 62,000 miles and has been with me since the early 1970s. At any rate, I got ambitious with the staff and we cleaned and power washed the inner wheel-wells, front and rear, and there is no undercoating on the metal. Did they come with it? Like the early Porsches?

undercoat was a dealer add-on. Rarely seen on buses delivered to LA, but far more common on buses from the northeast for example.

Great to know! I’ll take some pics and then try to figure out how to post them!

Having no undercoating is what has likely saved your bus. Apart from the barnacles and crustiness one gets close to shore- your bus has had maintenance I imagine. When the whole underside is sprayed with black goop people go longer to replace cables, brake lines, adjust front ends, etc. Let alone the seasonal bliss if falsely thinking your car is protected against everything.

Clean! Yes, that is how they looked originally when no undercoat was applied.

My '63 looks similar, except dirty

Mine did. It was a kosmoline type of stuff. Covered the entire underside too. These pics are after starting to clean it off. Tried Purple Power, Diesel, Gas, Thinner, everything I had in the garage. Original paint underneath. Also 67 DC. Also So Cal all its life.
