After reading through this great thread I was looking at an old postcard of Anchorage International Airport and spotted the Blue Panel Split near the hangar along the shoreline.

My first A&P job out of school was for the man who is in these photos. He was a missionary bush pilot in Brazil in 1961. He arrived in Brazil and bought a '58 German built Kombi and kitted out the interior of it to carry his family and their possessions out to his destination. He was there for almost twenty years.
He made the notes on the photos.
When he retired he began going through old slides and he gave these copies to me.

Crazy corner windows on that combi, must have been a Brazilian thing. Awesome historical bus photos there,they show just how rugged and versatile the bus was in its native habitat.

He added the corner windows. In the first picture showing their “camp set up”you can see the Kombi without the windows.
He noted in another that he added them.
