Yup, or it'll come off, rattle a little bit, then make a hell of a noise. BTDT once, had to replace the bolt afterward. Bentley spec is 95 to 103 ftlbs.

Yea I got the warning about the pulley bolt.
My torque wrench only goes to 75 ft. lbs. so I maxed that out and with a breaker bar gave it a little more with an educated guess.
I'm pretty confident it'll stay putt but I will definitely keep an eye on it.

Gonna try and muster up some linkage with spare parts.
And for the record, I did not butcher the Deano linkage. I got it that way years ago.
gotta get the cable link a little lower to line it up better, maybe just weld this piece here. I'll figure something out before dropping a bill on new stuff.

Nice work you have been doing. Clean is great way when going back together. On my oil pressure sending unit I added a 90 degree fitting for clearance.

OK I'm sure everyone could use a good laugh about now with all this virus BS going on out there.
Tight on money and still not sure what exhaust I want yet so I went on a tweaker in the garage today.
Type 1 monza into type 3 single tip.
It's super ghetto but it'll do for now . . . LOL
Please feel free to talk all the crap you want or leave any wise ass comments you can think of. My feelings will not be hurt.

Hey, if it works, it can't be any worse than the 2 outlet 4 tip version. Those are absolutely the worse muffler set up on a type 3.

| Looking nice. Are you planning on having heat at all? There is also a piece of foam/insulation that is suppose to go on top of the oil cooler, not sure I can see it in your pic. Interesting seat. |

I did put foam strips along this area.
Funny you ask about the heat.
I don't plan on having it just yet but I do have a question about the heater boxes .
Even when not being used should there still be a hose from the fan housing to the heater box to keep it from cooking itself? |

YES! The Type 3 HB have a lot of heat flowing through them even with the heater lever off. If you don't have forced air from the fan blowing through them whenever the engine is running, the heat will rise and overheat your head and at least one cylinder. I speak from experience...
What I did was to insert one of these type 1 heat exchanger hose connectors into the top of each Type 3 HB and RIVET it in place. Don't use sheetmetal scews which can work loose. Then route the air hose from the fan shroud outlet down into the upper part of that connector, and use a good hose clamp to hold the hose in place.

Yup, I've done that to several type 3s over the years without the stock muffler set up. The idea behind pushing air thru the heat exchangers (in the summer months for example) is to help pull the heat out of the heads. It does work.

Thought I was gonna test run the motor today but this starter is giving me issues.
Starter spins no problem in the trany but bolted up to the motor it won't turn it over . . UGH 
I was just gonna turn it over to get some oil pressure going before firing it up.
Plugs are out and motor spins by hand.
Might have to pull the one from the ghia and see if the starter is the problem. Or try a different battery.

OK figured out that problem.
Turns out the ground side of my jumper cable was jacked! Thats the last time I let my neighbor use em.
All good now, stay tuned for start up.  |

Now that the motor is dialed in I was crawling around under the squareback this morning to clean up a little and prep for installing the motor and I noticed this.
I'm lucky I noticed this in time . . UGH

Trany mount problem solved.
Cleaning out the engine air intake, how does all this get in there when the air should be going the other direction.

I gotta hand it to you type 3 guys, putting the motor in one of these is a breeze compared to a type 1
There's so much room to work with!
That home grown exhaust pipe came out perfect . . LOL

Yes, they do offer more room than a bug or even a bus to install. Looks good in there.

I was actually able to fix the one I have.
I drilled through the mount in these two spots and used 2 10mm bolts with counter sink heads to hold it together, it wasn't ripped all the way in half it was an easy fix. Probably better than stock.
I goofed and didn't take any pics before I reinstalled it.
One thing that ain't so easy to install is that large air intake boot.
Still not done with that. . . UGH |

Keep in mind 2 things on that boot. The large end goes to the body. And the thick rubber lugs go down and have a slit in then for the cooling boot clamps.
