1970 bug
paint is ok looking from 10 feet but is pretty rough nut for the price i can really complain.

motor turns over but the fuel lines have disintegrated so those will need to be replaced.

mice droppings all over the place but than again it was pulled out of a barn where it has been stored sense 2009

tires look brand new but thats as far as they go, dot code 4104 so oct 2004 yikes but the empi gt8 wheels look good.

seats have been redone and it came with a headliner to install.

question is how do i get the moon roof out, it doesnt quite close all the way and it isnt flush with the roof.

I'm guessing you meant "mice dropping all over the place." Yuck.

Here's a sunroof rebuild for you, although it is for a Super.

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=617492

I think there may be a VW sunroof manual in the technical section.

There are some little plastic rollers on arms that push it up into place that last bit, might just be seized up try spraying with WD40 and then pushing up and forward with your hand, dont try to do it with the handle to close you might strip it.

Out of the car:

From tims thread that shows position when they are pushing up:

Mine are a little different than that mine are riveted to the roof and only thing that holds them on are the pins

Well just ruined my chances of making anything on the car. Was trying to get it started and I here pop. Look back and there’s a flame coming from decklid. And of course the the hose is a tangled ducking mess and won’t reach so about 2 min went by by the time I put the fire out. The universe just hates me right now.

Man what a bummer Crying or Very sad

If I was in your shoes I would fix the engine and worry about the decklid after. Considering the rest of the pain isnt in the best of shape, are you planning on a full paint job or just the decklid? If only the decklid, I would consider driving your car to an automotive Sherwin Williams and having them mix you a can of spray paint to match for about $40 and spray painting the decklid yourself.

So what happened? Backfire through the carb? That's why I learned long ago to always have air cleaner in place when trying to start an unknown engine. Crying or Very sad

Ya it backfired and looks like the fuel barb at the carb was leaking. Or it was seeping threw the fuel line.

That’s nothing we’ve fixed engines that melted carb. Patch it up and try again. I’d pull the engine, splice wiring harness, address whatever issues you can engine out. What happened is minor

Stripped most the paint off which wasn’t hard. About 15 with the pressure washer and 30 minutes of cleaning up al the paint chips. Seems to be in pretty good shape. Now I just need to sand away the rest of it. And than idk. Maybe just slay some primmer on it to keep it from rusting

The SW near me doesn’t mix spray cans. Sad

its an az car they said, rust free they said, i believed them kinda

well my "rust free" az body is not so rust free. i expected there to be a little but there is more that i was hoping for, now i have the choice to put this one back to gether and try to get out of it what i paid or i can strip it compltly down and fix rust and it can be my "forever" car.

my budget right now is around 1000-1500, ive already got a built motor and trans coming out of the baja as well as all new window seals and suspension parts. so basically the 100 would be for all the body work and some misc stuff ill need like sunroof parts

Got the thing beam on today and the front all pressured washed. Eventually the body will get pulled off to fix firewall but for now I’m not really worried about it.

Also a little annoying that they litterly painted right over rust or didn’t clean it before painting.

Installed the 27mm torsion bars, new bearings and bushing. Had to take a step back tonight as my rear suspension is fighting me. Got the rear arms on and had the tire hitting the front of the fender. So I puked all the way back on the toe adjustment. Now it doesn’t touch but toe is not gonna be in spec. Also the camber is way out of wack.

What angle did you set the rear end to? It may squat some and correct some of the camber when the engine is back in.
