Thanks to everybody who posted instructions over the past several years. Using this thread, I ordered new flocking from Flock-It and re-flocked my pop-top. It turned out really well. I wish it had been thicker and I wish that I had picked a shade darker, but it is working great.
Before
After cleaning. I noticed that 75% of the flocking was gone and the pop-top was stripped to the fiberglass and still stained.
I decided to re-do the flocking.
After new flocking. It looks brand new.

Looks great! Do you think you can re-flock over old? I think someone attempted to paint the top , doubt it will come off. I think we're going for it anyway. wish me luck! |

| Great job on the top! We’re about to tackle this project and had a couple questions. Did you use the air assisted sprayer from Flock it? Did you spray or brush the adhesive on? Did you apply adhesive to the entire surface or do it in sections? Vinyl or rayon. Also, it wasn’t clear if you scraped and sanded the top perfectly clean ahead of application. Thanks! Hope to learn as much before we jump in! |

I just de-flocked my poptop and trying to decide weather or not to try and re-flock it or use one of the materials that some of the members have done. I really like what puchfinnland used in his restoration.
I've done similar projects with gluing and rolling out fabrics but not on such a large area and I know you can really mess it up especially without good help, which I don't usually have access to.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for the steps in flocking and the tools needed. Most of what I've found shows flocking on a small scale.

FYI the flocking keeps condensation from forming and limits problems associated with moisture in a camper.

I think re-flocking is an outdated method unless you are some kind of ZeitPurist...
I looked into it and found this thread:

I have completed the refurb of my top using the Hull Liner. It was a relatively simple install and you know the polypro Hull Liner material won't mold. Also, the added thickness adds more insulation and sound deadening.
The Material was inexpensive too, about $60 from Albrights Supply

pretty sure it was the 3M General Trim Adhesive.

Looking back, I wish I went this route. Flocking is a PITA and there are better ways. I like the marine carpet and there are a lot of colors.
I would still buy the glue from flockit.

| Did the early and late Westfalia campers have the same colored flocking on the ceiling of the pop top? I was also looking for original camper interior color options if anyone can point me to any info on this. Thanks! |

Actually the flocking on my top is in nice shape after cleaning in prep for installation of new tent. I was curious as to if the late campers with grey equipment had the same beige inside pop top.
