I hope someone can help me out. I just finished rewiring my 63 bug
And I'm trying to hook up the 6 wire turn signal switch I got from jbugs. I cant find anything on how to hook it up. The diagram on jbugs doesnt match the wires at all. The switch I got from them has yellow, yellow - red, black, black - red - white, green - white
https://www.jbugs.com/product/141953517CBR.html
I hope someone can help.

The link says three are extra so they are probably doubled up.

Go to the listing and look at the tech tip section, it tells you where the colors go.

I have looked on the "tips page" and all the wires they say. Dont match the wires on my turn signal switch.

I copied and pasted these tech tips from the link you provided. It would seem there is more than one type of switch they're selling and even they don't know which one they may ship you!

The AFTERMARKET turn signal switch wiring will be EITHER:

Green wire with White Stripe: 49a or "L" Terminal on Flasher Relay
Black wire with White Stripe: Power to left turn signals
Red wire with Black Stripe: Power to right turn signals

The Black/Green, Brown and Brown/Yellow wires are not used and can be cut out of the loom before installation.

OR THE CURRENT SWITCH:

IF THERE ARE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE BOX, DO NOT USE THEM! FOLLOW OUR INSTRUCTIONS BELOW!

Yellow wire - 49a or "L" Terminal on Flasher Relay
Black wire - Power to left turn signals
White wire with Green Stripe: Power to right turn signals

This tells you how to wire each one, but which one do you have?
Either way, you can use an ohmmeter to narrow them down.

If you got their AFTERMARKET switch:
Hook one lead to Green with white stripe-
Turn switch to left and there should be continuity with the Blk/Wt wire.
Turn switch to right and there should be continuity with the Red/Blk wire.

If you got their OR THE CURRENT SWITCH:
Hook one lead to Yellow wire-
Turn switch to left and you should have continuity with the Blk wire.
Turn swiitch the right and you should have continuity to the White/Green wire

All I can suggest is try this and see what you come up with.
Might just have to experiment or return it and buy the better one from WW.

Here is what I found from that JBugs page:
Quote:
The AFTERMARKET turn signal switch wiring will be EITHER:

Green wire with White Stripe: 49a or "L" Terminal on Flasher Relay
Black wire with White Stripe: Power to left turn signals
Red wire with Black Stripe: Power to right turn signals

Break out your multi meter and test the wires.
Set your MM to read continuity or resistance.
Place one probe on the green/white wire. Test for continuity to each of the other wires. Centered there should be zero continuity. Also test that there is no continuity to the body of the switch.
Move the turn lever into the L position. With one probe still connected to the green/white wire, test the other wires. You should now find there is continuity to one of the wires. This will be your L wire.
Move the turn lever into the R position. With one probe still connected to the green/white wire, test the other wires. You should now find there is continuity to one of the other wires. This will be your R wire.

Coil up any unused wires as spares.

If you did not find any continuity between wires, repeat the test but don't move the lever to the fully L or R position. Some of the aftermarket switches don't always work when in the fully L or R spot.
If you cannot get the green/white wire to work as the common wire, repeat the above test on each of the wires. When you find a pair of wires that complete a circuit when the lever is in the L or R position, one of the wires will be the common wire. After testing all the wire combinations you should find three wires in two of your tests that share a common wire. In fact you will probably fine two sets since that is the reason you have six wires... two turn signal switch sets. The second set is not used for US spec Beetles. They are only used in some European countries.

Run your tests and report back your findings. If the wire colors are wrong it would be helpful for others to know.

the wires are paired up, meaning pairs of 2 serve the same purpose.
You need to find out which two colors go together.
only need 3 hooked up for the switch to function
one power wire
one for the left lights
one for the right lights

The aftermarket switch a can be used as 3 wire.. or a true 6 wire stop lamp cancelling switch..

So.. the real questions are..

Are you using 63 two bulb rear lamps.. or 61 one bulb rear lamps.

.

So how do I find out which wire goes where? Or what wire is power?

Depends on the colors of your wires.

for a two bulb per side system.. only 3 wires are used.. tape the rest off.

Do any of these two options match colors of what you have?..

if NOT.. please post your colors.

Ok I turned
Yellow on 49a on flasher
Black power to left
white- green power to right
and still nothing. I have a 3 prong flasher with 31, 49a, 49. So should the 49a have 2 wires going to it? I have the yellow wire from turn signal switch.
And the blue-green going to the center bulb on the Instrument cluster

49 is the black-green-white wire going to the fuse panel

And I have nothing on 31. Does that make any sense?

Also I just noticed. With nothing hooked up (turn signal or anything to flasher. ) I have power going to the turn signal wires? Is that normal?

Your connection is missing the ground at 31..

49 fused/switched ign power ( + power input)
49a turn switch input and turn speedo indicator (L Load)
31 ground... (- Ground)

Its a relay flasher.. needs all three

I used 2 wiring diagrams to wire the car. One from that came with the wiring harness and a color diogram I got from here.
The diagram I got from the harness shows a 3 prong relay. The diogram I got from here shows a 2 plug diagram.
So does the 31 prong on the flasher doesnt get used?

The 3 wire (euro) flasher is the recommended preferred replacement.

What you used for a diagram.. doesn't indicate the case is grounded (31) to the body..

Simply schematic mistake..missing the indicated relay metal case ground.

Ground wire circuit to 31.. it will flash...well. Think . if the relay and all of the turn lamp circuits are good.
