Are they really new? Has anyone compared one to the original yet?

I have one from when they first did a run a couple of years ago. Green is slighly off from the OEM but its been great carpet for me. I didn't get the vinyl foot pad which is too bad as that's a nice feature.

It looks very much like the NLAVW one here in the UK:

Old news. Yes they are the same standard that has been out for the last mmmmm 4 years. NLA, Bus Depot - all the same base carpet.

It is the same in that it is a double variable green carpet. Same colors? No.

It is, however, a very nice replacement. I prefer the darker greens.

Here is stock, unfaded or sun-damaged never to this new stuff.

I just checked Reprowesty. They don't show any carpet for sale either, although they have a nice selection of reproduction cabinets.

No yellow buckets too.

Nope. Carry on Wink The pail system seems to work better for us Yanks, even some of us Wanks. They do a much better job holding wobbly pops & road sodas. Cool Laughing

I disagree that this is the same base carpet. If you look close let at the pile they are completely different. The new carpet has the pile in rows as opposed to the other which does not. The colors look to be much closer to the original as well.

Ah, good man. I agree with the construction and noticed that as well. Such detail tends to get lost in the masses and I just don't bother. The color? Not so much. I think they either changed the manufacturing technique or switched manufacture. Either way its better than the early version I have, but still not exact.

The color pallet on the original Westfalia, especially the lime color, does not exist out there in carpet land. Its an old outdated color, no one wants. It needs to be made. That would significantly raise the price on a already pricey product. The carpet used today is on existing color ranges manufacturers offer.

I finally picked up a decent used green front mat here on the classies last Fall. Worth checking from time to time. My original front carpet was trashed.

Thanks!

I was looking for a LONG time for a good repop carpet for my sage green Westfalia. There have been some decent ones before, but I have wanted a full set and a OG style heel pad and green vinyl edging was a deal killer for me. I have purchased the crappy "close" carpet from home depot Silver Pines or whatever. That 12'x8' roll is my knee protection in the garage attic now.

I ended up buying a set from Bus-OK that is extremely close. It has a correct shaped heel pad and green edging. The edging is slightly darker than OG, the loops on the carpet are somewhat smaller than the original carpet, but the color is very close and the glint, blackness, and color variation is very close to the OG style.

I did buy a used front carpet on the classies here a few years ago which is in the second picture. Much nicer than my 235K mile original.

I am a bit particular as some others are as well, but my search is over and I will be installing these in the coming weeks.

On the close ups, the OG carpet is first and the Bus-OK carpet follows

Not sure actually.
Usually I shop around as I am a cheap bastard.

But the carpet is sweet, probably the exact same product.

Edit:
I think NLAVW is actually a bit cheaper but their site shows the carpet with/without the heel pad and pale dots overlying the picture... Just hate to order something from Europe and get burned and the website pics on Bus-OK were more reassuring.

That’s too bad, I was hoping you were going to get it. From their product page:

Quote:
Faithfully reproduced westfalia late bay carpets the same colour and pattern as the original. it comes with colour matching vinyl edge and colour matched reinfored heel mat with the same pattern as the original.

Think of it this way. If we didn't buy the first stuff offered, install, compare, share it all over the net, then maybe you wouldn't have the opportunity to get this much better version.

Im waiting for an excuse to put into the 77. But I dont think I will since the cabinets dont have the OG laminate.

Looking forward to your install pics brother. Cool
