Thanks, what's holding me back ATM is I'm waiting on an A1 sidewinder header still so I can finish tuning. Before I switch to EFI and mount the rear bumper I really need it in place. I'll be doing something custom for a muffler once I have everything, but I have been driving it. Moved a heavy ass pool table the other day and the whole family was impressed at how well it fit with the flat bed and easy to remove from the side of the bed!

Oh yeah, my engine combo has tons of torque I'm stoked. Took 3000 lbs of scrap steel to get cashed in. Truck hit the scale with a full tank at 2500 even. With me and the load it was 5750. Very Happy I thought the scale needed to be reset and it wasn't my single, the guy looked at me and said "can they ALL do that???". I really could not tell it was so much weight until I was braking, but with the Porsche discs it was no sweat. I also fit all 3 pieces of a big sectional couch no problem. I literally get out of this thing when I pull into the garage with a smile on my face in love. It's so awesome that I get to use it exactly how I built it, to be a bad ass little hauler.

At In n Out Burger a while back. A guy named Stephen working the drive through was loving it. Turns out this young buck had an early bug. Cool

It's a lot more fun behind the wheel than on a creeper underneath it, huh?

Yes! Drive your bus. Use it like it was meant to be used. My lady asks if it bothers me getting a few scuffs and scrapes in the bed paint. Hell no it doesn't! Funny that more people really comment and ask questions when I'm hauling stuff.

I fixed some minor issues with my rear bumper and hidden tow hitch and mounted it, just in case my muffler install interferes. Good thing too, because there is an obvious fit issue with where I thought I might hang it.

One thing I really didn't want was a huge muffler, or anything sticking out behind the bumper. If possible, I also didn't want to move anything to get at my valve covers, so I made my own setup.

This is a small flange to a 2" pipe leading to a 2.5" Moroso Spiral Flow muffler. Both ends were cut off and tapered down to 2", since they only come in 2.5" and 3" sizes. I couldn't find anyone running this an an ACVW, so I decided to try it out. At only 4" diameter and no packing to blow out with interesting internal design, it was worth a shot for $65 at Summit.

I would describe it as sounding like a slightly throatier sounding quiet pack and only slightly louder. It's really hard to tell a volume difference over road noise, but that might be because the cab is so far separated from the engine bay in a truck. Zero drone at all compared to the quiet pack and sounds nothing like a rice rocket coffee can exhaust. Once I added a 1 3/4" tailpipe, it stopped looking like one too. Super happy with it. It really just sounds like a slightly less raspy quiet pack. If you like the sound of a quiet pack, this is a great option.

It's been awhile since I gave an update. The fuel injection is working great! Just working on the tuning a little at a time. Here's the truck at it's first show in a long time since I've finally recovered from my injury.

Applause Shocked I just read all of this from start to finish and took me a few hours lol.

I can't believe the amount of craftsmanship, metal fab, and detail you've put into this. It turned out so good! I can't think of anything I'd do differently. You really blew my mind with the EFI setup and plumbing/wiring.

Thanks for posting all of the journey so far, you should post another video of it running now. I don't think the old link is working anymore.

Thanks, man. I can't believe I bought this pile of junk 11 years ago and have this cool truck now. I'll have to do some more thread updates when I get a chance

a little update. After 10 years, I finally put in safari windows. It was getting old being so sweaty every time I take a drive. I use rivnuts to install the body brackets.

Got any up close shots of the rivnuts? I was thinking of doing that to my truck as well rather than welding the tabs.

I ran out of black screws for the center bracket. They are 10-32 size. You can see the outer brackets are longer than they come from Creative. I just welded short plates to extend them, and drilled the holes in the extended part. If you don’t extend the brackets, you’ll have to drill right through the body seam where the door jamb meets the window frame. They just don’t give you enough meat to mount screws

Wow, what an incredible thread. Found it on a lark where spencervfee commented on your build and read it start-to-finish. Amazing. I had to steal one of your lines for my signature, just cracked me up! Very Happy

Lol! Thanks for checking it out. After I finish building my Bug, I'm going to re visit and upgrade some things on the truck. Stay tuned.
