My 60 Baja beetle has a 1600 DP with kadrons and a stinger (and no idea what else but it will do 100 MPH no problem).
What can I do to make it quieter under slight / full load? It cruises at 60 MPH under low load at 2300 RPM and isn’t too bad.
The noise is definitely intake as well as exhaust. |

No...your stinger is the big thing....Look at something like a Super Trap or other actual muffler that will still give you the look if you still want that, but reduce the noisse. I run one on our buggy and it works well. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

I use a 2" "Turbo" muffler, which costs about $27 at many auto parts stores or Amazon or Summit or Jegs. Turbo, not Super Turbo, which has glass pack inside that blows out pretty quick and weighs a ton.
2 - 2" bends, 1 is a 90°, the other is a 180°, both cut to fit, then welded on. The length of straight tube between the collector and the beginning of the bend is because the inventor of the merged collector told me many years ago that with his merged collector or with a Tri Mil BobCat style collector, the 2" collector tube should be 6" long from the collection point to the beginning of the 1st bend for best power and torque. IIRC, the bends came from Jegs. The muffler came from Pep Boys. The muffler got a support welded on to clamp to the bumper so it doesn't break off from vibration and offroad shaking. _________________ Richard
