I bought a 54 ragtop that is going to require a complete going over. I used to have a 54 that unfortunately I sold 20 or so years ago and have had a yearning to replace it lately. So I pulled the trigger on this one. Found on Samba in NY state and brought back to Canada.
Serial #1 0771976, which is late Dec?.
I have questions that I hope I can get answered here about what parts are correct etc.
I will try to post some pictures of how I got it and along the way of bringing it back to life after 30 years in a barn, really in a barn. I didn't find it in the barn I only have the fun of having it. |

So I found out that the front fenders are not correct and 1 rear not correct and the other rear is very bad.
Front hood is incorrect as is the speedo.
So it's going to be a long road ahead.
It does have the 3 fold top but the latch on the front has a busted square drive and no handle. |

The interior, not so good.
The interior was red, seats were worn and eaten by mice. All seats were there but need to be recovered.
This car sat I storage for many years and the mice enjoyed every minute of it, I got at least 50 walnuts from the tunnel and saw today many more still in there. |

It’s been a while and have moved the car to my garage at home. Sold my industrial building so had to down size but am making it work. I have a tendency to focus on several jobs at the same time, slightly A D D I guess.
So I have separated body to begin floor repairs and reinstalled to cut off really bad areas prior to sending out for sandblasting,
Removing parts a labelling everything still feel I’m going backwards. Due to the pandemic and closed borders.
I’ve been holding off ordering stuff which assists in my jumping from Job to job.
I’ll post some pictures of my progress so far. |

I found some time to begin making this into something. The drivers door was a used door included in the sale due to the rusty condition of the orig. unfortunately the previous owner modified it to use a later 60s exterior door handle and latch mechanism. Work in progress.

Looks great!
And why I'm really here: I'd love to get whatever upholstery you can save off those seats, as intact as possible. I'm hoping to rebuild my drivers seat someday with OEM upholstery since my other seats are really decent. _________________
