I just got a set of these filters and cleaned them with gasoline. Should I oil the material in my Mann Mushroom air filters on my Okrasa engine? If so what type of oil? The filtration material is a horse hair type material.

Any one have the proper procedure to maintenance these filters?

Thanks

Mann's are a large debris filter combined with the mushroom design which helped reduce exposure....and I believe totally adequate for normal use, porsche even used debris filters without elements on some models even into the late 1960s on the 40 P-II equipped engines. The owners manuals in the technical section address the coffee can filter mtx in english with pics, but the earlier manuals have no pics and are in German. Perhaps they address the issue with help of a translator/german speaker.

It is a good idea to check your mann filters to make sure that they are not breaking down inside and releasing particles into your engine. A simple test with a shop vac covered by a white t-shirt/cloth should give you the info you're after
