I have a soft spot for aged magnesium wheels, so decided to try fake a set of torker wheels into looking like original magnesium American racing wheels. Got a set of cheap jbw wheels on clearance at half price so off to a good start.
As bought
After blasting
After a couple of coats of cheap metallic black from an aerosol.
After rubbing with grey scotch brite
Pretty happy how they came out, couldn't have been any simpler. I think the metallic paint is the key to achieve a metal like appearance rather than a painted appearance.
Just thought I'd share for anyone interested in something similar |

Thanks dude done some more rubbing on them and if I hadn't painted them myself I'd actually think they are real |

Another pic, the blasting gave a nice texture that helps with the look also.

Cool idea.. Wonder how it would look using transparent black paint letting the natural silver shine thru some. May have to try this sometime. |

I had them.blasted at local powder coating place, no idea what they used sorry. |
