255070716 $31.05 Busdepot. Or, send me the your old cable assemble and I will put a new cable in $30, you pay shipping both ways. Or I will sell you a good used cable assembly for $30 exchange.

The spring inside the arm is quite stout.

My notes indicate that the cable I used, which I tried to size to the OE part, was stainless 7x19 "designed for movement". i.e. can be used on pulleys. My notes indicate that I used 3/32" fittings. No notes on OD of cable but it was likely close to OD of the OE cable possibly even a bit larger. I may have a complete used OE cable around.

this might give an idea of new cable OD. OE strut arm cross pin shown.

Any good bike repair shop makes cables all day long.

In hindsight, length of cable to ball contact on the cable I built was far less than OE. But, I trusted a marine shop with proper tools/experience to swage on that ball. Then again, the length of contact between dog leg and cable on OE part is not much longer.

Given the size of cable and securing method I used, I was concerned the cable might rub on the arm. But IIRC, I left the bolt/locking nut a tiny bit loose so the cable could pivot and self centre.

This thread suggests using 1.9 mm "lawnmower trains" cable

Post from there showing measurements of OE parts and one persons solution:

FWIW, when I rebuilt mine (didn't need to make new cable), I shortened the cable to increase lift force by putting washers on the spring side. It helped.
