Hello all and please help. I purchased an 03 Eurovan last week out East and drove it back to Chicago. No problems on trip and ran fine. An occasional abs light which owner said could be rusty sensor. Well the van was filthy and had been in storage. I cleaned like a mad man and it looks great inside and out.
Now the problem started when I took a small brush, simple green, and a spray water bottle and started cleaning the engine. I cleaned and spray a little water and dried everything off. After putting everything away, I went to start the engine. The bell started chiming, no power windows or mirror and ESP, ABS lights on and brake light flashing. I covered open drivers window and started searching for clues here. Next day I started looking for blown fuses. I found one 10 amp fuse in slot 14 by drivers left knee. I repacked it with new led warning fuse. I turned on engine, windows worked, power mirror and no warning lights for about a minute and bam, lights on, chime sounding, dead windows and mirror and fuse blown. This happened 2 times. Could I perhaps shorted a wire? Any help is much appreciated! This site is wonderful, have many projects planned!

You will have to current trace that circuit and look for wire faultsfirst , and if none found, check the draws on each component to see if something is pulling excessive current

Does the fuse blow on the ABS self test at about 5-10 mph consistently?

Well thanks for your reply to my dilemma. I pulled the drivers side door cover and low and behold, a bunch of frayed wires where the wire harness passed through the door jam. I sorted and taped them up and put a new fuse in and bam the windows go up and down and the mirrors work and no more dash lights about brakes!

Thanks for the follow up!

You totally reminded me of vwwestymans experience of finding wiring faults in the driver door, that seems like a high cycle failure area

How many miles are on your beast?
