 they would only be about 75 - 80 years old now. it is almost worth tracking any survivors down to ask them what that damn wooden box thing was!

I did a real double-take when I saw that photo. I swear that looks like my dad with my two brothers. Only his (now mine) was a '71 and orange. Here he is with my son about 38 years ago, with my '65 Bug in the background:

I've only seen my doppelganger once, but he was my teenage doppelganger. He didn't recognize his older self.

It doesn't look real. It looks like a very good digitization, maybe for a video game.
Also, the center cutout of the Kubel rim is round, which is a giveaway.

hadn't clocked the wheel centres! looked too clean and crisp to me so I was suspicious. if it's a digitisation - jeez it's getting scary. fake history follows shortly...
update - just checked back to the source of the photo and the guy who posted it is standing by the drivers door and hasn't aged a bit - also thinking the wheels could be land-rover ones.
