To the guy who glued all the tabs on the front airbox housing on my 81 vanagon. I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for letting me learn lessons of patience
Thank you for letting me learn lessons of new words of cursing you
Thank you for letting me learn lessons of broken tabs
Thank you for letting me learn lessons of how not to do things

Thank you Surprised

Yes, indeed. The airbox is glued together from the factory. That just means no one has been into it before you.

The clips are a service item and still sold by VW.

Don't know about the other three - but yes, these vehicles will teach you patience.

Some previous owner had reglued the air box shut on my 83 1/2. Total PITA to get the box to split without destroying it. I am sure this has happened to many other boxes over the years as well.

if you think the heater box being glued teaches patience, seized window motors will make you a zen master.

I got lucky, my heaterbox was clipped together, THAT was a welcome surprise when I finally got in there to work on it..... Pray Pray Pray Dancing Dancing Dancing

I've dealt with the factory glued airbox and didn't find the experience memorable. If a previous owner opened the factory glued airbox and then closed it up again with another type of glue instead of the clips, I can see how that could be a headache.
