I would really strongly recommend you replace that red urethane steering "rag joint" with the proper cloth reinforced rubber steering coupler. Because of the cloth plies inside the stock type coupler a failure is a slow event with no point of sudden breakage and resulting loss of steering. You get a good chance to feel it's a little loose before it's out of control. _________________

Sounds like a good idea...I am realizing now how bad “urethane” parts are. |

Urethane isn’t a bad material. In fact, most automakers use them today. However, us acvw people are screwed because no one is making bushings worth the quality. So, we are stuck with good old rubber. _________________ -'85 c10 5.3 LS, 222 cam, long tubes, x pipe, 3 inch spin tech's

Found a different exhaust
Installed new front tires, 145’s on white painted rims
Interior going in...
Just about time for a shake down spin around the block...Then time to evaluate the ride height front and rear. |

So we have been driving and enjoying the 64 this summer/fall. Plan to replace all the door window seals as the cold weather moves into CO.
My question is who makes a 5 wide rear wheel that is 5.5 or 6" wide, but has less backspacing.
The current 5.5" wheel came on the bug when I bought it. I think they are the normal 5.5 wide wheels you see on all of the big online stores. The tire rubs on the inside of the wheel well, but has a good 1" gap between tire edge and finder lip.
Thank you for the help |

Well it is time to tackle one of my winter projects....new window seals/trim.
Let’s see how hard this is....does not look like much fun. LOL
I have also spent a lot of time this winter working on a 2332 for this bug. |

Adding some new pictures…
Trim installed, vintage Thermador installed, time for some summer time driving…
I have different front fenders ready to go on, a correct 64’ deck lid getting painted, an antenna to install, and a 2332 on the build stand. Will have to pull the trans for a rebuild and freeway flyer upgrade before the engine can go in.
Still looking for an original hurst shifter, empi for now. Disk breaks all the way around planned soon. I have a nice set of original running boards and bumper overrides to clean and install. Love working on the bug….

Got the correct 1964 deck lid installed…
Installed new front fenders, so the headlights now point in the correct direction….LOL
Installed a new replacement windshield…no more chips and cracks. Took the whole family, and two tries, to get it installed

The 2332 has been through the test fitting stage, engine tin all modified to fit better, etc… Time to pull it back apart and put it together for real.

What is the ride height setup? Clearly lowered front and back but I find this very tastefully so. The rear only has a little negative camber and looks good. I would have narrowed the front beam a little less, but I'm old. _________________

Thank you, It is lowered the equivalent of 1.5 clicks in the rear. The front was lowered tell it looked right, to me. The front is only 4 inches narrowed because I wanted to run shocks. |

Did you use a new doghouse shroud? If so what brand it is and did it hold up?
If you went doghouse did you also change to the larger fan inside?
If you went doghouse did you do anything to allow more air into the engine compartment (no air ducts on engine lid)? |
