TMI would probably sell you uncovered door panel blanks though. _________________ If you`re going to do something, do it right. |

I reached out to them a while ago and they said they would look and get back to me. Never heard back. Sent them 2 more emails, but no luck. _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.

Are you just looking for the "wood" used for the door cards ? Mine were SO bad - wet, warped, rotten, broken - that I did my own. Carefully removed the plastic, (keeping the original foam padding because it was stuck tight !), then bought 3mm wood sheet from the local hardware store and made up my own. Then stretched the original plastic back on (after repairing a couple of cuts from the inside) and glued and stapled it back on, as per the original. Probably the hardest part was finding short enough staples so they didn't come all the way to the front.
I did this several months ago, and was pleasantly surprised when I went to fit them to the doors last week, and they fitted perfectly ! (Normally I find I have to do "retakes" because I am so bad at measuring etc !!) So couldn't have been that difficult !

Hey that came out nice, tight work bro.
Unfortunately for me my 73 SB didn't come with any interior panels at all so I'm starting from scratch.
I thought about try to measure it out and just winging it, but to be honest that is not one of my specialties. LOL |

Keep in mind that for the most part all door cards from 68 are basically the same' The big difference is in the arm rest and it's mounting. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Thanks. But if yours didn't come with any interior panels at all, then you need not only the card (ie the wooden bit), but also the plastic cover trim, the clips, the two screws, the little black caps that fit over the screw heads, the pocket, etc etc.
In which case I would have thought you would need more than just a "template" and would be better off to buy the whole thing from TMI or whoever ? Or else go to a trimmers and have him make the whole thing for you ? See what I'm saying ?

I was thinking about keeping it simple as possible, something like the early type 2 panels.
Just plane wood, anything fancier than that I'll go with the bamboo panels. |

ABS sheet in 1/8 or 1/4 works well , usually available in white, black, and grey, pebble finish one side and smooth on the other.
I did all my interior panels from 1/8"and then covered them with foam and vinyl
except that rear floor section, should never have used the white, it shows every dirty finger/hand print

So vinyl dye it buckskin tan like the original. Use an adhesion promoter like "Bulldog" after a thorough cleaning and it won't wear off. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I have gotten into the habit of sealing the back side of door and interior panels with several coats of shellac. The new door panels seem to soak up moisture like a sponge, and that ain't good. Always replace the plastic moisture barrier on the door, too. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.
