Near the door threshold is a long metal trim strip with several screws.
When installing carpet, do the screws actually penetrate the carpet itself, or is the trim strip only sort of barely "clamping" the edge of the carpet without actually having the screws pierce the carpet pieces?
I hope my question makes sense. I have attached a diagram showing a small piece of imaginary bright green carpet being "clamped" but NOT SCREWED. Is this correct?
Correct? Yes .. or No?
Thank you,
Brian |

Just brought my car home from storage for today’s ‘old guy old car ride’.
Had new interior including carpet professionally installed about 10 years ago.
It appears the binding around the carpet edge runs under the metal strip and is ‘clamped’ by the metal. Don’t believe the screws penetrate the carpet.
Hope this helps |

Awesome! Thank you.
Putting this thing back together one screw or carpet tuft at a time....
