Hi Guys,
i am from Germany !
I'm trying to build a bikini top.
without original convertible Frame.
the problem is, at higher speeds the Window frame goes back and forth.
Does anyone have a photo of a construction, or any ideas
Thank

They do work well, and they're easy to install.

Willkommen!
There' many ways to skin this cat. Some things to consider:
1) Is this for sun protection or minimal rain protection? Open mesh, canvas or other material.
2) How are you going to attach the front edge to the car? Snaps? Rope edge? Modified front convertible bow that using existing hardware?
3) Frameless? Are you going to stretch it over a roll bar?
4) Rear Attachment? Use exisiting body loops or other attachment points.
4) What works standing still may not work at 60MPH. _________________ Walküre Restoration Thread: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=737492 |

1. Underwire
2. Strapless
3. Tube top
4. Halter
Why, when it's on a boat or any other vehicle, is it called a BIMINI top, yet when it's on a Thing it becomes a Bikini? _________________ 70 Sunroof Kombi

Ha! I have heard them called both, to be fair. Maybe a regional thing?

Your upper windshield frame may be cracked too near the two mounting screws on either side. Check that out first. Mine did that recently and I was able to get it Tig welded and repaired. |

Uses the same holes as the windshield latch.
Stolen from the gallery

If I remember correctly they also came with the longer screws needed. I put a completely new windshield frame and glass on my car, and these still hold it much more rigid than before. |
