Hi Guy, i just took out my front beam (78 bay westy) and in the process of replacing it because it is rotten, anyways i cant get the tortions bars in the good replacement beam i have for it, the beam is out of a 74 bay, is there any tricks to getting the tortions in? i did notice that the factory welds on the ends of the tortions were broke when i took out the tortions. thanks for any help!! |

they have to go in the same as the came out. You cannot invert them or they will break when they are loaded in the opposite direction
The grub screw is out and they should slide in
Find the center and insert the grub screws, tighten to spec
Leave both sides unloaded until you start the arms back on and the leaves go into them. If you load one side it will cause the other side to flay outwards making it very hard to slide the arms on. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Alignment of the leaves is critical. I 3D printed a jig that can live inside the beam, and it keeps the leaves aligned for installation into the beam, and installation of the torsion arms.
VW welded the leaves in an alignment jig and I have done that as well, though I don't typically carry a welder around with me… Here's a picture of Hazetguy welding a pack up:
Good luck,

I just put a cable-tie around the torsion stack about an inch in from the end then slide it in. _________________ Joey
