That means Standard beetles brakes was mechanical until 1962? but how you sure it is from 1949 and up? the illustration do not show the starting chassis numbers _________________ Ashraf

I've just looked in the 1946, 1950, 1957 and 1957 parts books and neither of then indicate a different back plate so I can but assume that it either never changed or was totally interchangeable. I can't see a mention in PR either.
Anyone know if there were any mods and is so what they were.
I believe that the ones on my '46 original. _________________ Rod,

yes, standards had cable brakes until 62. and from what virtanen says it looks like those plates would fit earlier cars than 49 but not be historically correct _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

From Der Berater #19
111605139 and 111605140
up until chassis 1673410 October 1957
In parts book, looks like hydraulic brakes became standard starting from 1673411

The earlier rear backing plates, as on my 47, don't have holes for the 4 securing bolts to go through, but are U shaped openings. Need to take some pictures I guess. |
