This question....today at least...stems from a thread in the bay bus forum....but is really a question of mine. It relates to one particular vacuum can that I KNOW was used on the 1.7L in "some" 914...because thats where I always found them.
But some were dealer installed on 411 and 412 1.7L engines....which were identical down to the last spec except for exhaust manifold and sheet metal differences ....to the 1.7L in the 914.
This advance unit had an adjusting screw on the outside to limit total vacuum advance. The number stamped on the advance unit arm was "917".
There is a picture of it in this thread....the first picture in this thread. The rest of the thread is about converting other units to adjustable vacuum advance.

Does anyone know what the Bosch, Porsche or VW part number of this vacuum can is?

917 is for the 73 1.7 only, if for a 914 |

Do you ever see any...or have the complete/correct part number (Bosch , VW or Porsche)?
