Oh man that is awesome!!! I would love to see your cage work in the trunk/fuel tank area! |
Thanks! I’ll get some more pictures when I go to the shop tomorrow. The cage just runs into the front beam for support. But I’ll take some pics anyway. |
What's going on with the under dash ductwork? What is going to power this beast? _________________ Jerry...

This was my baja, last known to be in San Jacinto area of Southern California. If anyone knows the whereabouts I'd be interested in buying it back depending on its current state. Dad and I have many hours into it and regretted selling it immediately. [/img]
It's a 61, has an IRS conversion, had centerline front wheels, stock 1500 motor, yellow and blue 300z seats, and chrome tri-mil stinger. |

This is my Dottie. I've had a mental image of what I want in a baja bug for ~30 years and I'm slowly making it happen. Pretty close to driving her if I could just get the lights/wiring figured out. <grumble> |

We bought this instead of a side by side for on our farm. |

Just putting the final touches on my baja. It has taken me about a year and a half to bring her back from the dead.

Yup! Sure does fit!
Seen lots of Baja Ghias. 1st one I've seen with a bug eye Baja nose.
Looks cool and I see no reason why not. It COULD BE fitted to the Ghia nose. Although how you did is looks pretty good without getting fancy.
Where were those pics taken? It looks like California City. _________________ Richard

My friend’s brother had a Ghia very much like yours. Did you live in El Cajon at the time of the pics? |

No, I was living in OB at the time, but that's where (El Cajon, Santee) I went to buy my parts. _________________ Prosit!

1974 baja in progress. Between dizzy problems, chasing oil leaks and carb problems I actually drove it several times around the neighborhood with no issues.
bugeye nose is off for some paint color experiments |

Interesting to me (and very probably NOT to anyone else, LOL) in that when I was a little punk, my uncle Joe and his family lived in Ocean Beach. Then in the early 60s, they moved to El Cajon where they lived until we packed them up to move to Saguache Colorado. My 1st Baja Bug, I went to pick it up in National City, drove it to their place in El Cajon, where it was parked for a couple weeks until I could get back down there and bring it home. _________________ Richard

Back in the 60 and 70's there were a ton of Baja's all over SD county. That's all my friends and I drove until the early 80's when we got into buses. Our core crew of six lived from Chula Vista to Mira Mesa and Ocean Beach to El Cajon. _________________ Prosit!
