I'm trying to install the lower idler pulley for ac but the lower timing belt cover is either warped or installed incorrectly and is pushing against the pulley. I can push the cover in and the pulley can spin freely though the cover 'springs' back when I let go.
Has anyone seen this?
Thanks! |

Can you expand on which engine you have? I see that your profile says Canada so not sure if you have the 2.5L gasoline engine, a diesel, or a different engine. |

I've recently had some similar issues with the UPPER cover rubbing, but some additional attempts I have made on better installing it seem to have helped.
I've seem some other references in threads of the upper cover in particular being rather finicky to get set right. Similarly I have seen others searching for a replacement lower cover.
So far I've not had an issue with our lower cover.
Mostly also from what I have seen these are both NLA and your best option is to find a good used one somewhere sadly. Best of luck and keep us posted. _________________ 1993 Weekender - Hula

Thanks! I had similar issues with the top cover but simply adjusted it and it was fine. I have a donor van but the lower cover on it is all worn through. I ended up making a 0.040” disk that bolted on behind a pulley that pushes the cover flat. Seems to work well. |
