The empty/almost empty (red/yellow) LEDs are always on no matter how much water is in the tank. Any advise on this will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

If it is like every other camper I have had experience with, the level indicators are fluid contact sensor mounted on the side of the tank. Typically drilled into the tank, one for each level indicating light. When the contact senses liquid it completes the circuit and lights up indicating the level.

These sensors corrode and die over time and need to be replaced. This can be a pain as the sensor needs to be mounted water tight to prevent the tank from leaking.

I have not confirmed that this is how the EVC indicates it fluid levels. I am use to working on Japanese and American cars. This is my first German car that I have owned and the engineering is unlike the others. So it is entirely possible those German's did something completely different.

Thanks MrPulldown! It's going to be a tough one to fix I guess... Perhaps this is a feature I can actually live without but nice to have. All the other meters are in good working conditions. The most important ones for me are the propane and battery indicators.

I see you have the exact same van... If you have any info to share please send it this way. I'll do likewise. Cheers!!

I'd poke around some more on this. I have not crawled under the van to confirm. The induvial mounted probe sensors was how all the other campers I owned or used had them. But they were all American units, and I have learned that the Germans do things differently. But then again this is a Winny.

A little time on the interwebs revealed this "strip" style sensor. Maybe the EVC uses anyother kind that could be easier to repair. I did not find any EVC specific repair units on the popular EVC sites: gowesty, eurocampers...

Strip sensor:

I know that tank level sensors can also be of the float type and even pressure type.
