This past July, after 12 years of van ownership, we have sold our 86 Westy. It was a fantastic adventure with 90,000 kms of memories. We travelled coast to coast with two kids and all around the Maritime provinces here on the East Coast of Canada. The success of many of those trips were in part this website and the info gleaned and provided here. I have made friends within the community and one directly from here on Thesamba. I cannot express enough how thankful I am for all the help and advice provided by so many people here!!!
Thank you!!! _________________ 86 Vanagon GL Westfalia 2.1

Not an easy decision as you all can imagine. I was getting tired of the cycle of maintenance and decided it was a good time to make a change.
Definitely going to miss driving her...
This is an awesome community and I will miss it for sure!

So what you list it for and what did it sell for? Always interested in real world selling numbers.

We bought a T@B 320 teardrop trailer this summer. It's small, like a westy, packed with conveniences, like a westy, great sleep, like a westy without any mechanical. _________________ 86 Vanagon GL Westfalia 2.1

Does are really fun trailer a friend actually built one himself. I was in the proyect of building trailers some years ago but the proyect never took off the ground. When I went to his house I was like awwwwwww _________________ Roger

12 years of ownership? may have been long enough to be infected with The Spore. Gerry Skerbitz, of the original vanagon@lenti, likened owning VWs to having a Spore invade your body... you know against all reason that you should move on but you keep coming back.
i swore off VWs when i gave away my '87 Westy for $600 to a friend. i was done with frozen brake calipers, leaking heads, low compression, etc. bought the exact one back 13 years later for $1200 and it was untouched, stored in a storage unit. same friend sold it back, thank you. refurbed it, would drive it anywhere with only an oil change. hope you've been vaccinated. _________________ -dan

Vacination against Vanagon ownership? Given the number of us in the entire US population, it seems there is already herd immunity. Only a very few unfortunate? lucky? seem to get this wonderful virus. |

Cool. You only paid your friend $50 a year to store it for you. Would he store mine too? _________________ Dave O
