Do I just slap this puppy on my van like this and call it good?
I guess I need to cut in more screw holes cus this doesn’t line up with the old ones

I would try it before you mount it. The original is a 2 part with an aluminum heat sink that is attached to the van and the module bolts to the heat sink.
If it works see if you can use one of the original holes. _________________ 1982 Vanagon Camper with ALH TDI.

Also is running my van at 25 degrees 2” from the U mark okay for it? _________________ 1985 1.9L Potato |

Can you reuse your original heatsink in addition to the components you show in the photo? Yeah, that would give you two heat sinks but might allow the original holes to be used. |

I think 2" is more than 25° -- perhaps about 35°.
But yeah, should be okay - I actually run a little more advance than that. |

so in the vintage BMW airhead world, they use the same ignition module. there have been numerous instances where these have had intermittent failures due to a lack of heat sink grease between the module and heat sink. it'll probably work just fine, but if you want a belt and suspenders approach, separate the two and apply some heat sink compound. it has made a difference in the BMW motorcycle world. _________________ -dan
