Some great looking engine bays.
Was the engine pully and the gen. pully on a 1971 and 1972 painted black or bare metal when new ? Thanks

I was looking at some of the pic. here, some are black and some bare, they both look good to me, I just like to stay with the way they were when they were new.
The pic. you have sure look's like they were black.

My 71 (owned sice 74) was black on both pulleys. The bare/cad plates pulleys did not start till sometime during 1303 production.

1974 ‘Barn find’ 1300 twin port European model RHD Beetle…
Very original but now has temporary split manifold boots. Now has a black braided cotton left hand hose to the air cleaner.

Does anyone have any ideas why there is a green splodge of paint on the distributor vacuum canister? The engine is so original but I haven’t seen that before.
