Hey guys, I need some help from the type 3 experts. I just bought a Ghia that had been stored in a barn for years. I also made a deal with them and bought all the old VW stuff they had.
I came across these carbs that I’m assuming are type3, what’s odd is that the manifolds are for dual port heads. If I’m not mistaken, I think all the US type 3s were EFI from ‘68 on and dual port heads came out in the seventies.
What do you think?

1967 Type 3s are dual port, dual carb.
1600cc engine.

The carb bodies look pretty clean, nice score.

Is the distributor a 311 905 205 G?
G suffix = 1967 Type 3s too

Thanks, I guess I had forgotten that the Type 3 got dual port heads in ‘67. Yes that is a “g” distributor. There is also another type 3 distributor with a cast iron housing. What year would that be from?

Thanks Glenn, Wow, that's got to be a bit rare, it looks to be in very nice shape.

That's a non-Bosch distributor made by Garbe Lahmeyer. They're an odd ball and most people want Bosch.

Interesting, I've never heard of that brand. Anyone recognize this thing?

If you see anyone selling one in the classifieds ignore the asking prices.
They are almost worthless.

Thanks! Those may be worthless but I'm sure mine must be worth a fortune!

Next question- what is this distributor from?
