Checking out the thread again- i could have sworn I saw a pic of someone carrying a full sized bridgeport in their SC but a lot of the photos are down :/

That would be way over the 1 ton weight limit for a single cab, almost twice.

Am I being obtuse when I ask, "What the heck is a bridgeport?"

Good question. It's a big milling machine for metal. Great for making parts.

They weight between 1700 to 3500 lbs depending on many variables. I just purchased a machine shop with three of these only they were converted to CNC. Computer, Numerically, Controlled. This puts mine on the heavy end of the scale. Move day is next Monday.

I said I would be there with 4 canoes. I was wrong, I was able to get 5 canoes and one kayak. One of my friends jokingly asked if I could come get his canoe. I said "Bitch, there's still room on top!"

Reminds me of the pick up trucks you see everyday heading south on I-5 from LA to Mexico.

I hesitate showing my canoeist/kayaker wife this because she'd make me build a rack for my SC for her boats, lol!

On another note, my 62 SC had the fried egg front and big rear lights which from what I understand is "correct" for that year. I thought 61's all had bullets and small rears, but yours has a combo. Is yours a "crossover'? It never occurred to me that this might happen in the factory, but I have learned that stuff like that happened(how could it not as changes were made on the fly) . If those taillights are stock it'd be pretty cool. Still a cool truck and great pic none-the-less. Must have been a fun outing! Smile

Here is the bulkiest thing I hauled in our former DC, by far not the heaviest....

I can't remember how I lashed it down for the trip, but it got home in one piece!

Ha!

Unless there were invisible ropes and straps holding the load somehow in that blurry photo, the first time you let out the clutch to depart in first gear that load will "unload" itself quickly in that driveway (which would be a hysterical Youtube video!). I'm waiting for someone to post the video link...

Hi, Bill!

You can see my motorcycle tie-downs at the back end of the side gate. I simply hooked the tie-downs on each side gate and ran them through the door openings on the sedan body. Then I added one or two bags of concrete mix on the rear apron and two more in the rear luggage area as counterweight to hold it in the box. It really did work (I only had to go about twenty miles from point-to-point) just fine. The driveway it's parked in was the final destination, and the car was all put together several weeks later.

Sorry, no video!!! And I kick myself frequently for letting go of the DC........
