I'd start with 16 amps, many other cars with electric chokes use 15-16 amp fuses for that circuit.

Wow. That looks like it’s been arcing for a long time and the little “spikes” are providing more and better paths for the arcs the more time that passes. The charring on the outside piece is pretty much a dead giveaway of it. toss it and get another.

Are 6v chokes specific to any particular carburetor? WW has a 6v version listed for the 28 PICT1, but I have a 30 PICT1. Same part? Any quality issues with the aftermarket items? I’ve traced a NOS item, and considering going that way versus aftermarket...

Ask them to tell you the diameter. 28s are smaller than 30s choke heaters.
