160k is bonkers. to get further into the weeds, it's interesting that it only has 2 popputs but has the top level kit with the icebox. I'd be interested to see the m-code plate |

And he called it a "Van" at least 4 times. Even if I had the cash for that VW BUS, I would take of $5k for each time he called it a "Van". Oh wait, member since yesterday... _________________ Greg

If it's the same bus, looks decent. Not 100%. I like it better at $45k than $159k
It looks like the wood paneling in back was replaced with birch. It possibly? has the original rear roof panel.
Cupboard door as extra cargo door table. - later removed?
Curtains changed.

Just to add, YouTube on restoration of this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcgV5ml6pEY Well, three minutes of it anyway with an emphasis on cabinets.
The video in the old https://www.grautogallery.com/vehicles/2191/1960-volkswagen-westfalia advertisement was from 2014. I wonder if that was around the original $44.9K sale date. Edit: If you look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQ0EX-QVD18&feature=emb_logo you'll see what might be tents on the shop floor with a Corvette basically parked on top of one. Experts might know better than me, but I assume these were the Westy's tents being treated poorly! _________________ Coming to you from God’s Own Time Zone: Central Time…up near the Illinois/Minnesota border. ** Note I am currently (mostly) INACTIVE in the bus community due to temporary life changes. They put a Coleman Convertible Cooler in where the fridge goes. It also looks funny with the sun fade outline of the missing mirror on the closet door. _________________

Why is there a large hole in the floor and what are those brackets hanging down? |

On one hand, this deluxe looks pretty good for the asking price but once you start peeling back the layers, It looks a bit scary.
I see lots of use of fiberglass on outriggers, rivets used in other areas etc.
Who knows whats lurks beneath the paint. _________________ ----VW's in my garage----

I am no expert compared to others in this thread, but I believe that is for the propane tank that is seen in the other pictures. There may be a couple of pieces missing that would hold the tank in place. _________________ Prosit!

Cool, a Double-door!
Obviously a '64 though - big rear hatch, push button doors, etc.
It has the middle seat, very cool

Ummm, that VIN # is from April, 1963... Something is up there. |
Weird. Would need a Zertificat if there's no M-code plate to see if that VIN matches a double-door. _________________ '63 German Walk-Thru Deluxe 15-window - SOLD |

That is strange. I had a May 28, 1963 double door with small hatch, ice picks handles, 3/4 ton and a Oct. 09, 1963 double door with large rear hatch, push button handles, 1 ton buses. On mine the front brakes shoe size was the difference between 3/4 and 1 ton. I don't remember about the rear brake shoes. _________________ Prosit!

It's in NY too, let's see the rust. |
I grew up not too far from Canandaigua. The largest salt mine in North America used to be in Retsof, NY about 35 miles from Canandaigua. Salt was so cheap that the highway departments didn't use anything else. In the 80s and early 90s seeing any car that was over 15 years old on the road was like seeing a classic car. My first bus was a 71 that I bought in 1993, it had holes through everything underneath including the frame rails. |

that looks really bad underneath and held together with bodge - then there's the alarming photos showing a childs seat fitted _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut
