Soo, me and my dumb ass didnt take enough photos of how exactly im supposed to mount my steering box... How do i know my steering box is installed at the right position/angle? Also, i had dissembled my steering box and replaced the seals and gaskets, and of course any and all adjustments are off... Is there an article or thread on what and how i should be adjusting the "end play" if thats the right term for the screws? Finally, what oil should i be using? i packed the roller bearings and thrust surfaces with bearing grease, but other than that the box currently remains empty.
Thank you
Aiden
going on a '65 link pin beam in case that matters.

Had this problem with my 61, there are no locating pins on the beam and I just made sure everything was lined up and then tightened except the box itself on the beam and then snugged it down and checked the steering wheel to make sure there was no binding or anything else and then torqued it down. Prior to august 1965 there were no locating welds on the front beam.

You might consider marking the position of where you would want nubs (trial box installation), and then weld a couple of blobs to the beam to act as indexing nubs in the future. |
