Hola from Baja everyone! I'm at my winter home just south of La Paz. The local population is being very careful, masks temp checks and hand sanitizer at all stores and restaurants. As long as you are careful, travel and camping should not be a problem. There are far fewer tourist than a normal year, so nowhere is crowded and your business is appreciated. It's just another beautiful winter in Baja. |
So people are allowed to cross the border in both directions with no problem? _________________ Grateful daily,

In todays news " Southern California ICU capacity at zero as U.S. Covid cases rise" and "California counts the dead by the hour as its I.C.U.s fill up" Not a great time for boarder crossings unfortunately. _________________ I'm not a mechanic, I just play one on the internet

Its not a good time to take any unnecessary travel. I'm bummed because I had to cancel 2 trips in the last month. Exposing your self and others and possibly adding to an all ready acute problem is not smart or responsible. Vacations can wait over peoples lives. _________________ I'm not a mechanic, I just play one on the internet

You're absolutely correct, of course. But self-contained Westfalia camping in deserted or mostly deserted camp spots with one's dog is a pretty nice way to safely isolate, imho.

I'm not arguing that at all. Nice dog. The problem comes in when you go the gas station, get some food in town, etc. You can't live in a shell, yet unnecessary travel is well, adding the the problem that effects others then just your self. Guess my van will be getting more work done to it this holiday. _________________ I'm not a mechanic, I just play one on the internet

We can all make excuses for safe travel, and if we all do, then it won't be so safe. I had family members traveling safely in my syncro SVX, all very safe, until the van broke down, which suddenly included tow truck driver (30 miles from everywhere), mechanics, hotels, car rental, u-haul rentals, my traveling to save them (2,000 mile round trip), all my extra contact hauling the van home. Traveling through unnamed denial states, like Idaho, Montana, and Nevada, where I was the freak with the mask on.
You get my point, everything is fine until it's not. _________________ 1987 Syncro Westfalia, stock (bought 1994)

Absolutely. My 98 yr old mom is probably close to her last breath -hopefully not but it's a realistic possibility due to her declining poor health- and I just can't responsibly travel to Huntington Beach now, so there's a strong chance I may never see her again. It's a very difficult time for many families. _________________ Grateful daily,
