Got the motor mostly together. This motor got real big and real heavy, real fast. Took me all day 9-5 and I still need to do the FI harness, exhaust, and vacuum lines.

Another Saturday and Iím getting closer. Exhaust I got off Rock Auto for $125. Made in the Czech Republic and fit nicely. Waiting for the new main seal from GoWesty and a little more vacuum hose then itís really done.

Now its time to get back to the shop and install!

Sand the rust off the pulleys before you start it. Just saying.

Yes, another Samba member that has been following your thread here and know
How excited you must be to have the engine in and running soon.
Looking at the cylinder heads you had rebuilt and installed I do not see the
3/4 cylinder head has the threaded hole for the temperature sensor.
It appears to be an early head for (air injection) with the Two holes for
The pipes.

Hey Chris, my 3/4 heads have the Temp Sensor threaded hole.

I was able to tread in a new temp senor during assembly, thank goodness the threads weren't trashed.

I wire brushed the pulleys to get rid of the lose bits and scales. I'll be sure to wear eye protection when we fire this thing up the first few times.

More progress made. Hankook RA18s mounted. (Thanks Walmart) Motor is installed. Just need to connect charcoal canister, do valve adjustment, and check all clamps and will be ready to see if it runs. Oh and need to add oil to the motor and transmission. One more full day of work I guess and see if it runs.

Awesome! Congratulations on a job well done. I went through all this with my Bus a few years back. All the hard work and frustration paid off the first time I let the clutch up and it moved under its own power.

Nice job! Nothing like a victory lap when you have everything all buttoned up.

Thanks Jack for participating in the weekly bay pride conference calls on this project. Sometimes you just gotta talk it out to fix problems.
