Many! I’ll have to take pictures later, but I’ve now got the hood seal in, replaced drivers hinge pins and one set of lights, I’ve got a new set of side moldings. Steering wheel should be going on soon as well as a new windshield. I should have it ready for the CT spring dust off if the don’t cancel it. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

No, I don't think I have enough leftover for something that big. I did start wiring the car up. Headlights work, blinkers don't. My brake lights flash rather than the turn signal bulb.... Also there's what looks like a white wire with a gold stripe coming from the harness in the trunk that I can't find on any diagrams. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

New electrical gremlin. Brake lights work, park lights work, turn signals don’t. Any ideas? _________________ '67 Beetle L41

'66/'67 turn signal switches are known for being faulty. That'd be my first guess otherwise move to the 9 pin flasher box.
As for the tool kit roll let me know if you need dimensions.

It’s been a month so here’s an update.
I’ve got all of my lights working. Ordered a new flasher relay from WW because I broke a tab off of mine. That’ll be here tomorrow.
All of my fender beading is in as well as my tail lights and license light. Deck lid seal got put on too.
Hood latch is in and working perfect as well as the deck lid latch. Doors are adjusted fairly well and latch and close easy enough for brand new seals.
Inside I’ve got all of my switches in and have a battery hood down in. I’ve fixed my heater cable guide permanently and am welding the tubes to the floor pans. I’ve also got my glove box on.
All of the exterior trim is on now except for the Volkswagen script and my dealer badge. Starting on my carpet install tonight. Bought a steamer to get the front carpet molded well. Here’s some shots-
What’s the order for the front carpet? I’m thinking the kick panels and then the front firewall piece. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

I think that's right. If you get stuck. I can pull up the carpet in my car and have a look.

Thanks guys! That’s unfortunate lol, I like the firewall being on top of the kick panels, maybe I’ll do it anyway. Also, does this look like the proper routing of the fuel tank vent?

Interesting I was just looking at my fuel tank vent on my 67 yesterday. Mine just comes off the filler neck nipple and then goes into the hole just below the filler. I saw the extra clip that yours is using and wondered what is was for, I will be watching to see if that is the correct placement. So much info can still be gained on the Samba, Thanks. |

Make that vent hose a little longer, I've had gas come out of it short like that in a turn. I went past that fender bolt and made the loop droop down a little bit. _________________ Project 66 Daily Driver http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=538786&highlight=

Okay, I’ve got 3 feet of hose to play with. I have it come off the tank, clip in, loop back and clip, then go out the body under the inspection cover and there is a few inches or so to play with still. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

Here is a photo of how the PO did the tank vent, your photos cleared up how it should really be. Does your car have the hole below the filler that the hose should go threw, well I think that is what it is for? The hole looks factory, if my PO would have done it it would be three times larger and jagged around the edges...lol. Lucky for me that both little clips are there to secure the line, Iam thinking about a little over two feet(maybe 3 feet)

Yeah, mine has that hole, I stuck the remainder through it. Also-

^^^ X2. Where dd those mats come from?
Bill, CT has the fuel tank vented properly. That's what those little white clips are intended to hold.
When driving the car in a "spirited" fashion. The fuel sloshes all over the filler neck. With the CT vent routing. The raw fuel is trapped in the vent tube, instead of spilling all over your frame head and filling the cabin with gas fumes. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Thanks 67rustavenger, this one has spilled over a few times, need to get a few feet of the 3mm line to correctly vent the tank. That will be another PO screw up fixed. |

Thanks guys! Mats are Wolfsburg West. Only gripe is you have to cut the holes yourself and it's quite nerve-racking. They do give indents to cut on though. Under the mats is just quick roof. I originally intended on having some closed cell foam board that I could remove when I needed to check for water and such, but it seemed to bulk up the mats too much. Carpets are WW synthetic in the charcoal color. I got a seat in and drove it to vin check on Saturday. It was my first time ever driving it and it had no issues! Registering it on the 31st! Going to install the firewall carpet tonight and put my check rods in. _________________ '67 Beetle L41
