small update today,
took the time during the weekend to cleanup the door pilar section and apply some rust converter.
Happy there is just surface rust. while getting everything open, I also made sure that the door hinges bolt could unscrew. there is just one out of 8 I am going to insist a bit.

I took plenty picture of the area as it is something that will be hidden after welding the patch back in place.

I just decided to remove the antenna hole as the antenna I had in place will be replaced by something different.

Here are the steps to plug the hole and make it invisible:

I did some garage clean up a month ago which I was able to keep clean just for few days Smile , but wanted to share a bit of my evening and weekend working environment. I built the garage and the work space area from the ground. as it is full isolated I can play easily during cold Canadian winters

Another step done this evening with the 3 layers of epoxy primer into the pilar / quarter panel section:
I spent more time to prep the area and cleanup the spray gun than applying the 3 coats of epoxy.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, they have discontinued the plastikote line.

I got my quarter panel fully tack welded all around.
I needed to do some heat shrinking on the right side of the panel to get a perfect butt weld.
In progress now with reshaping the profile to kill these low spots.
Next step will be to complete the weld

I bit of update,
all of the outer section has been mig welded, the remaining detials will be addressed with tig.

I am going to continue now to mig weld the arch, and same do tig on remaining areas where there is no gap.

Final stage will be to planish all the welds.

Happy of the result, will work on removing the welding mark in the coming days.

Wonderful work. It is motivating to see how others approach fabrication on all these rust-prone areas. So great to see you saving the original steel rather than replacing whole quarter panels. I will be following along with interest!
