Gezzz, that's a lot of work. Thanks for the behind the seen look. Just maintaining an old bus is a job in of its self. How do you find time to enjoy yourselves? Anyway you videos are top notch and I've been thoroughly enjoying the series. _________________ Prosit!

Thanks glad you are enjoying the series. It is a lot of work, but it's worth it and we enjoy sharing the experience with others.
Here's a new episode for you, this one is very VW centric!

This episode is our first ever mixed-media animation and is about a very interesting character we met in Northern Germany.

We got to meet up with some travelers that were in our first Kombi 8 Years ago in South America.
Nice nostalgic reunion from before I started to learn from TheSamba community.

Great final episode. So stressful watching you bump start the bus across France. Hopefully you can squeeze a space to carry a spare starter on your next trip. _________________ [email protected]

Would you believe the ground strap was entirely missing - Also I completely cracked open the solenoid when trying to undo the nuts and clean up the contacts. So new solenoid and ground strap and it's good to go.
There were no VW shops open en route during our drive back so it was hard to find the part. I did look. Eventually, I found a supplier of the Bosch solenoid I was looking for, guess where?????? Back in Italy where I had started from

A VW starter is that hard to find in .....gulp....Europe ?
I’ve bought one off the shelf in Ajo, Arizona (population 2,500) at the local grocery/general store 5 minutes before closing time.
Great series by the way. It’s amazing for me to see a bus out of Quartzsite AZ, a hamlet I’m well acquainted with, plying the roads of the Alps on the way to Africa and Australia. It’s such a small world. |
