Bought this 2021cc dune buggy engine with EMPI 1.5” exhaust. I want to quiet it down and make it street legal. I want to carry on a conversation in the bug. I am willing to give up some HP. I have j-tubes with a tri-mil hot dog style muffler. Will this combo work? Open to other options?

It will "work" but they are poor performers.

You might be able to just get a muffler for that header.

Turbo muffler - 2". On a similar header. From FLAPS about $27-30. Couple of bends for nearly as much more. Sounds quite good yet quiet enough.

Not real pretty. No fancy coatings. But it works. And it's inexpensive.

Oh. And get a real "Turbo Muffler". Don't get a "Super Turbo". Those add glass packing that fails pretty quickly. In the meanwhile, it's just about as loud and 2x as heavy and 2x the price.
