Southwind stuff tends to be less exspensive, the Eberspachers tend to be a bit more exotic
I had those plates made for that car, not real German plates. _________________

I just got a 65 notch, 15000+ original miles, bit rusty, but everything is there. Somewhere along the way someone replaced the front fenders, but other than that everything is as it was since day 1. Including a gas heater, it looks to be the one in the first post, an east, west type. I'm heading out to the garage now to check it out. Everything is there, do t know if it works, nor do I care, I really don't like gas heaters from stories iv heard of bugs burning to the ground after they fail to turn off. Anyway I'm into trades if anyone is interested, I'll never use this thing, anyway.
It's an original Canadian car, 1 owner, and the heater was in it when the old guy bought it. Unfortunately he died 5-6 years ago so I can't ask if the dealer did it or if it was a factory thing I'll try to get a few pictures. |

Sorry Mike, but that's the left front inner fender well/side of the spare tire compartment (just above the bumper mount). With all the metal you cut out, I figured you'd know that area well. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Isnt that a clean cut for that oval? How did they do that? |
Probably a die stamp on the factory supplied cars. Otherwise, just careful attention to detail. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Hi, Jason.
I recently bought a '65 Variant S with this heater assembly originally installed. The only thing left after the pickers got to it are the tubes.
Would you care to let go of one of your heaters for a good cause?
It will be a 1500 club car when its done _________________ '64 1500 S

Brother you are in luck! I happen to have the unit still - without the tubes!!! Correct 6v unit with some of the rare vent pieces. It is what you see above in the pics
I don't plan to use it - I believe the pump works - I will check. But I was just going to display it. Putting it back in a car would be better.
PM me for price. _________________

Wow.....what a haul!.
My 412 has a functioning BA-4. I have lots of electronic parts for it I have collected over the years. It will be getting a full stripping, cleaning, painting and calibrating before it gets back on the road. Maybe this coming winter.
I am also working on workarounds for items for others like making new heater duct sensors for when they are totally NLA. And a version of one maybe with a trimmer switch inline so classiccamper can finally get his to run normally.
Or......replacement points and condensers......or a machined collar with its own glow coil to allow the use of a normal sparkplug. .....damn....too many projects.

Its fun to look back through this thread and see how I wanted to restore an early BN2. One thing this thread did provide was access to me and if I would sell the heaters to others. Well I did as they wanted them more than I did.
I do however still dink with BN2 and not just BN4s. This BN2 below is part of the Alaska haul listed above. It seems to function fine but its not lit off yet. I think at the moment due to low battery. Its being charged now. These are notorious to hard start due to the glow plug only issue so lots of amps/volts required. This is the later metering pump type that everyone wants.
Ill also build a B2 for my 64 Notch that Ill post here.

Here is the start up of the east. I had to run a 12 volt battery charger at 6 amps to get it to turn consistently. Same issue I had with the very firs Eber I did in the 62 notch resto back in the day.

One of the neater items one could get to accessorize the B2 or BN2 in your ride was to get a 24hr timer.
The later version of this is the clock with timer built in that replaced the clock in the right pod of the dash. But those only arrived by the late 60's early 70's. So to get a predetermined time set in the future to have your cabin heater come on - you had to get one of these little egg timer types.
I've had this one for awhile now and only took interest. Main reason was I wanted to try out the Evaporust I just bought. So I took the timer apart, that was in better shape than it looked, cleaned it up and put it back together.
Turned out ok in my book.
This is an NOS one to compare.
Pulled apart, cleaning it up.
Back together and painted.

Follow up on the timers. After rebuilding the one, I had a search and found a couple of NOS ones. These are hard to find - the older ones - as well as any mention in any of the work manuals.
I did find this particular one being used in conjunction with an early BN4. It shows the options between a Push/Pull switch and a timed pull switch.
