Perfect collection!

The 1500S looks neat, got a nice understated look to it, sometimes less is more! Cant say I have seen many T34's over here in the UK, that looks like its a nice project!

I'm missing our westy now, it's gone for a subaru motor then it needs upholstery and then its good to go camping again Very Happy

Going to be closing this thread out and moving on from this bus real soon. She has sold. Im very happy with the new owner. They sound like excellent caretakers.

Now all I need to do is await the carrier to pick up the bus and take it back east. You guys in the NYS area will have some California competition soon.

I had a scare that the bus got jacked up during the sale - Santa Ana came early and blew down my back yard. Luckily only the notchback got a scratch Rolling Eyes Bus is fine.

Been following since day one. Nice build. Sad to see the close, but happy you sold it to someone you're comfortable with.

Funny how selling our Volkswagens becomes more like an interview process and less of a sale.

Notch “you’re a better man than I” to sell such a nice specimen.

Seeing those pics side by side brings up a thought I’ve had for awhile. Has anyone modified the Chrome/wood vintage roof rack for a tin top mounted on the late bay fiberglass Poptop? Would have to modifying the mounts but would it look good?

Yesterday was the last day with old Whipple. The sale and subsequent pickup has closed a 11 year long adventure with this bus. Its been a long and interesting one I hope I never have the pleasure to duplicate. A broken relationship, death of the man that sold it to me (John Whipple of VolkSmith), the god awful packing up, moving from San Antonio to Seattle, several moves in Seattle then finally to San Diego. The bus has traveled more while it was inoperable than after when I finally had it finished under my ownership. I just realized this Think Good lord. The constant on again off again emotional roller coaster to stay engaged and follow through. The money, don't get me started. But I do think Im ahead but a discernable amount IF we don't count my labor. Making yet again another space with a new gal in San Diego to work on him. Finding out that my soon to be wife and Whipple were born on the same day. Shocked What? WTF?? 1/23/74 Same birthday. Weird shit. Giving her right of refusal, right? But a new kitchen won out. Wink Laughing Im glad because as with the past girlfriend I had, Michelle Erickson, we did decide that this adventure was to be sold at the end of it. But we all know, things change. When I drove Whipple, the ease of driving an automatic made me second guess. I almost for a minute there kept him and put the 77 up. The final push on Whipple came with lots of Stuart Zickafoose working on him. Lots of the heavy work I was either to lazy, disinterested in or just flat out didn't want to do, he did for me. I owe him a big thanks. So with that. Old Whipple is off to live a new life, adventure and hopefully be pampered.

Cheers John Whipple! May your stories never grow old!

Nice work, J. That was a very well executed restoration and glad you, more or less, came out ahead.
