Wanted to share this interesting detail on the top of a late Dec 52 cab door. this is still a door that has # stamped glass frames but later vent wing, not piano hinge any more.
I observed that the top area of the door, where the sliding glass channel sits, is in primer, with only a few dove blue paint splatters visible.
imho that means the door was painted with the (matching) stamped glass frame as a unit, much like fenders and doors/hoods were hung on beetles.
Interestingly enough, the 1955 ( post BD) door to the left, has dove blue all over the door top, meaning that the glass frames were painted seperately. Seems to make sense, but a very interesting minute detail I think.
Also compare the overspray pattern on the 2 doors. the 52 has lots of grey primer exposed, while the late 55 is all doveblue.
