Frances McDormand.
Love her in all her movies, especially the Cohen Brothers'. She's great.
Also starring David Strathairn, another great character actor.
Trivia
Frances McDormand nicknamed the van used in the film "Vanguard", which she decorated with her own personal items and slept in during the shoot. Eventually she stopped doing so because "it's much better for me to pretend to be exhausted than to actually be exhausted", she told The Hollywood Reporter. _________________ Grateful daily,

Yikes, that looks perfectly bleak and depressing. That should be mandatory viewing for the comfortably fed and housed crowd who bitch and moan about the homeless. _________________ Casey--

Thanks for the surname spelling correction. I was half asleep when doing that.
My favourite film with her in it was Almost Famous. But she's great in anything she does. Depressing movie? Yeah, but a reality for all too many folks these days. _________________ "Fritz", a temperamental and unforgiving 1989 Westy that proudly bears his German flags and status as a member of the exclusive GoWesty Belly Flop Club.

Yes, a depressing subject. Shining a spotlight on the plight of those left behind by our society and this economic system that glorifies wealth, the wealthy, and the accumulation of "stuff." But maybe also offering a glimmer of hope for some viewers when they realize, for all they feel they lack, maybe they can stop to appreciate just what they do have in their lives.
McDormand is such an awesome actor. You know it's going to be heart-wrenching, but in the end, maybe a bit hopeful. And hopefully a little enlightening for many about the plight of the forgotten. _________________ Grateful daily,

Watched the trailer and video clips of the drive-in opening at the Rose Bowl.
One of the actors in the film, who is actually a full-time van dweller in real life, stated his life creed: "My life is about not having, not craving, not needing." That may be the ultimate takeaway from the film.

That actor with the Walden Pond philosophy was likely Bob Wells since I saw him in the movie trailer: https://www.cheaprvliving.com/ . I think he's turned his lifestyle into a living now. _________________ "Fritz", a temperamental and unforgiving 1989 Westy that proudly bears his German flags and status as a member of the exclusive GoWesty Belly Flop Club.

Bob Wells and Suanne who both appeared in Nomadland will be making a YouTube video about their experiences in the film this weekend sometime -- or so they promised online. Look for that to hear about some background/behind the scenes info:

It's a movie about life and if there is one thing about life is that

Watched it last night. It’s great to see good movies without attacking space monkeys. _________________ .ssS! |

During the movie I told my Wife that Bob Wells is a real person who is big into the alternative living scene, web sites, seminars, etc......
At the end she said she had no interest in living that life style, could we please not do it?
So we will stay in our humble small paid for house I guess......
I've always teased my Daughter and Son-In-Law that we will end up being the King of Queens Arthur living in her basement........ my Son-In-Law has apparently told my Daughter that if the need arises, he will gladly pay our taxes and utilities so we stay in our house and not live in his basement.

Dave, us too. When I was 18, everything I owned fit in my car. In my 20s everything including my tools fit in my 68 camper. Needed to feel not tied down. Well fast forward to today and I'm still in the same county I graduated high school. House is paid for and my wife retires this May.
We will likely takes some Round Trips with our van, but there is no place like home. _________________ ☮️ |
