Has anyone ever compared the guts of the original Speerwolf shift lock to the reproduction unit?
I am referring to the mid 60's version not the earlier "toilet bowl" version.
Can you use the repro to rebuild an original housing? Even with slight modifications?
(Images lifted from the gallery. Happy to remove)

Is is possible to get the shift lock off without the key? I know, it sort of defeats the purpose, but mine came with no key! |

Is yours unlocked? If it is. IIRC, you can remove the lock housing without the key.
It's been quite a few years since I looked at mine.
In the last pic above. You can see the housing set screw penetration through the body of the lock housing. Remove the screw from the unlocked housing and slide the whole thing forward.
That should allow you access to the shift plate bolts. _________________ I have learned over the years.
