Has anyone extended the frame head on their baja to get a longer wheelbase?
If so, how did you do it? |

Most people extend the beam out when they build a cage and attach the beam to it. The usual is 5-8 inches. _________________ http://www.wix.com/baja5s/nightrun |

Why are you interested in extending the pan head? _________________ Richard

Do you plan to actually offroad the car? Or is it to be a car show trailer queen (as suggested by your comment "and I like the look of it!")?
Makes a big difference in how you approach the job. _________________ Richard

street and off road. It's going to be caged, either suby or type 4 power, 3x3's in the back, ect.. Plan on doing some overloading trips with it. |

So the cage should be built so it extends forward to support the beam. This should be done by a competent fabricator who knows what they're doing in building a Baja Bug. Not somebody who builds hot rods. Or someone who builds drag cars, or circle track racers. I don't know of anyone in the Redding area who has that knowledge.
There IS a whole LOT of info available within this forum on how to build a Baja Bug the right way. _________________ Richard
